Plain Chipboard / Particle Board ( PB )

Overview

Plain chipboard, also known as particle board, is a commonly used engineered wood product.

Composition:

Particle board is manufactured from wood chips, sawmill shavings, or even sawdust. These raw materials are collected, sorted, and then mixed with a binding agent (usually a synthetic resin).

Production Process:

The mixture is processed under heat and high pressure to form a board. This recycling process not only reduces waste but also yields a versatile material.

Main Use:

Furniture:

Particle board is commonly found in furniture such as cabinets, tables, and desks due to its affordability and workability.

Building and Construction:

It serves as underlayment for flooring and in wall partitions.

Acoustic Engineering:

Its density allows for excellent sound absorption, reducing noise.

Working Properties

Dimensional Stability:

Particle board doesn’t warp or crack easily due to the even distribution of particles and adhesive.

Workability: :

Its uniform texture makes it easy to cut and shape, making it a favorite among carpenters and builders.

Sound Absorption:

The density contributes to its great sound absorption properties.
